Our Story
Fleet Investor began in 2018 when three language educators met at a teaching conference in London. Each had spent years teaching English as a foreign language, and each had grown frustrated with the same problem: existing learning materials either oversimplified the language to the point of uselessness or overwhelmed students with academic theory.
Sarah Mitchell, formerly a university lecturer, had watched countless students memorise grammar rules they could never apply in conversation. James Patterson, who'd taught in language schools across Asia, saw learners struggle because courses ignored cultural context. Emma Thompson, a curriculum designer, noticed that most online platforms treated language like a collection of words rather than a living tool for communication.
They decided to build something different. Not another app focused on gamification and streaks, but a proper educational platform that respected both the complexity of language and the intelligence of learners.
The first course took eighteen months to develop. They recorded hundreds of video lessons, crafted thousands of exercises, and tested everything with volunteer students. When they finally launched, the response surprised them - within six months, they had students in forty countries.
Today, Fleet Investor serves over twelve thousand active learners. Our team has grown to include fifteen native-speaker instructors, all with formal teaching qualifications. But our core philosophy hasn't changed: teach English as it's actually used, provide real cultural context, and structure learning in a way that builds genuine fluency.
